Ah You - A Love Story Set in Old England
Share
Some nights don’t end when the lights go out.
They keep breathing inside you — quietly — until a single look brings them back.
I wrote this story in a season that felt like Old England: cold air, soft streets, and the kind of silence that makes your thoughts sound louder.
And then there was you.
Not a dramatic entrance.
Not a perfect line.
Just a face… and a moment that lasted too long.
I remember thinking:
Don’t look at me so beautifully… or my pen will sin.
Because I knew what would happen next.
When you’ve written for years — when your life has lived inside notebooks — you start to notice something dangerous:
A look can become a sentence.
A sentence can become a song.
And a song can turn you upside down.
That’s where “Ah You” was born.
It isn’t just a love story.
It’s the sound of trying to stay in control… and failing.
It’s a gentle kind of heartbreak — the kind that doesn’t scream, but never really leaves.
THE FEELING BEHIND THE SONG
• One look that changes the temperature of the room
• The fear of falling too fast
• The beauty of someone you can’t safely love
• The quiet sadness that follows you home
